One of our favourite unique May honeymoon destinations is the vast wilderness of Namibia. Hire a vehicle and traverse this country on a road trip.

We’d recommend waiting until late June to maximise these wonderful African honeymoon destinations.
You can go gorilla trekking all year round in Uganda or Rwanda, although again waiting until June, you’ll get less rain.
Things are heating up in Egypt and Morocco but it’s still a good time of year to visit these North African gems for a cultural honeymoon in May.
If you can handle the heat, visit the Great Pyramids and the Valley of Kings in Egypt.
In Morocco, hike the Atlas Mountains, visit the blue city of Chefchaouen and explore the bustling Medina of Marrakech.

Couples still travel to Maldives to avail of the low season prices, however, there is a risk of rain or adverse weather.
You can really be lucky with plenty of sunshine, too. Plus, it is rare to get extreme weather for long periods in the Maldives, but this can’t be guaranteed either!

While it is coming into winter in the Southern Hemisphere, there are many May honeymoon delights in South America.
For adventurous couples planning a honeymoon in May, Peru should be on the top of your list.
Tick off your bucket list and trek the iconic Inca Trail (book early as permits are limited!). Explore the country’s culinary heritage in Lima and search for pink dolphins in the Peruvian Amazon.
Learn about the way of life on the floating islands on Lake Titicaca. Take a flight over the Nazca Lines. See the country in the lap of luxury on the Belmond Andean Explorer train.
Argentina can be visited all year round, but the south of the country’s hotspots like Patagonia and the Lake District are getting quite cold.
You can still visit Buenos Aires, the wine regions of Mendoza, canyon country around Salta and the magnificent Iguazu Falls which will have mild temperatures are a highlight of a Argentina honeymoon itinerary.
You can hop to Brazil from Iguazu, too.
It’s a great time to visit if you prefer to go outside of the more humid months and want to go when there are less crowds. The second half of the month is the start of the dry season in the Amazon, too.
For intrepid couples who are looking to get off the beaten track on their May honeymoon and have more time, you could also include Bolivia in your South America itinerary as it is a great time to visit.
From Salta, go on an exciting journey through the Uyuni Salt Flats to La Paz and even on to Lake Titicaca and Peru.
From the wine region in Mendoza, you could fly to Santiago, the capital of Chile.
Although like Argentina, it is colder in the south of Chile around Torres Del Paine, you could head for exciting adventures in the Atacama Adventure in the north.
Ecuador is also a fantastic option with the unique bucket list destination, the Galapagos Islands lying off the coast.
You can visit the Galapagos all year round depending on your interests, but May is a great time for snorkelling. Follow in Darwin’s footsteps and meet iguanas, sea turtles and flamingos.
Colombia has multiple weather patterns, meaning there is no bad time to go there, although the famous Caribbean coast gets some rainfall in May.

Hit the iconic Route 66 or venture through the wilds of Wyoming and Montana, including Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.

We’re kind of obsessed with Mexico. Not only is very affordable, it also has diverse places to visit.
Most couples will seek an all-inclusive honeymoon experience on the Riviera Maya on the Caribbean east coast and Cabo on the Pacific west coast. We love Secrets Resorts.
You could also opt for a more bohemian boutique vibe in Tulum or food and history tours in Mexico City and indigenous jewels like Oaxaca.

It is the start of the monsoon in many parts of Southeast Asia, which brings rain and humid weather.
However, in many destinations, it’s more of a shoulder month and the rains gradually arrive. So if you don’t mind some showers, you have a lot of options!
One exception (and one of our favourite May honeymoon destinations of all time!), is Bali. This honeymoon island in Indonesia is extremely popular as it’s such fantastic value.
Start in a beautiful beach resort in a hot spot like Seminyak. Enjoy the fun dining, beach clubs and magnificent sunsets.
Take a couple of days to explore some of the region’s best beaches on the Nusa Islands or the laid-back honeymoon vibes of the Gili Islands.
Make time for the cultural heart of the island, the tourist town of Ubud with many of Bali’s highlights nearby, including beautiful waterfalls, rice fields and temples.
Visit Monkey Forest and get that Instagram worthy shot on the Bali swing.
Stay in a suite with your own private pool in the jungle. Finish up in another part of the island, like the Indian Ocean-facing Uluwatu.
The best thing is that all of this is super affordable for couples planning a budget honeymoon!
Explore other parts of Indonesia, like Komodo National Park or the remote eco-resort with overwater bungalows, Bawah Reserve.
Singapore is a great addition to Bali, too.
From the famous rooftop pool of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel to the Michelin-approved dining and Universal Studios, there is so much to see and do in Singapore.
We’re kind of obsessed with Thailand, although it isn’t the optimum time of year to travel and is more of a shoulder month.
Stick with the east coast islands in the Gulf of Thailand for less rainfall.
Bali might be a better option and you can find out more about the how they differ. Same-same but different!
A May honeymoon in Cambodia can still be on the cards.
Explore the history in Phnom Penh, see the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Angkor Wat. These temples, uncovered from the jungle, are one of Asia’s most iconic sites.
Visit the beautiful islands like Koh Rong. In neighbouring Laos, the rainfall is not severe, and it’s more of a shoulder month.
Consider one of our favourite island-hopping destinations, The Philippines. While it’s the start of the rainy season, you will see plenty of dry weather, too.
Vietnam can also go on your shortlist. Vietnam has multiple climate patterns, and it’s unlikely you’ll see adverse weather at this time, although you should expect a shower or even a thunderstorm or two.
From Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh, explore the history, food and beaches of this legendary nation.
Discover China, one of our favourite destinations for a cultural honeymoon in May.
From the Great Wall of China, to the Terracotta Warriors, to the Li River in Yangzhou, this fascinating nation is perfect for a May honeymoon adventure.
Eat all the delicious things in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. China is one of our favourite destinations for a foodie honeymoon.
It’s also a great month to visit Japan for honeymoon, although note the first week of May coincides with a week of national holidays in Japan, making it very busy with domestic travel, so later in the month will be better.
Book the Shinkansen (bullet train) and traverse this captivating country from Tokyo to Kyoto and beyond.
In Malaysia, Nepal, Bhutan, although it’s rainy season you could get lucky and see sunny dry days too.
It is getting hot and rainy in much of India and In Sri Lanka it is the wet season in the popular western areas.
You see less rainfall in the popular spots in the centre around Kandi. For the beach, you could stick to the east coast. The lesser visited yet lovely beaches around Trincomalee.
May Honeymoon Destinations in The Middle East

It is getting hot in the Middle East as summer arrives. May is a transitional month into summer, it’s hot but is usually still bearable (particularly earlier in the month).
Jordan’s temperatures are usually great in May. Visit Petra, Wadi Rum and soak in the Dead Sea.
Turkey has plenty of beach areas and lovely hotels and Istanbul is one of the planet’s most interesting cities. Tag on a few days in Cappadocia for the Instagram-worthy balloons that dot the sky.
Oman is hotting up. The bustling souks of Muscat, the luxury hotels by the beach and in the desert, turtles hatching in Ras al-Jinz and the most romantic desert landscapes.
May in Oman is best for couples who already live in hot climates!
In the United Arab Emirates, there is so much to see and do, but it is hot here, too.
Stay in a luxury desert hotel or a hotel with overwater villas in Ras Al Khaimah.
Visit the beautiful Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre and Ferrari World in underrated city honeymoon stopover gem, Abu Dhabi.
We love Dubai. Not only does Dubai have the most luxurious hotels, but it’s so much fun, you’ll be planning an anniversary trip.
If the heat gets a bit much, you have plenty of indoor pursuits, too!
