A honeymoon in the USA means endless possibilities! Across 50 states, you’ll find iconic cities, beautiful beaches and extraordinary national parks, innovative dining, shopping and cultural pursuits.

The United States of America is one of our favourite honeymoon destinations.

California is an all-time classic and the first honeymoon in the USA that should be on your list. The Pacific Coast Highway route from San Francisco to San Diego is a quintessential USA road trip honeymoon.

Where redwoods turn to palm trees, pretty coastal towns like Monterey, Carmel & Santa Barbara and so much to see and do. Visit Alcatraz and cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Visit a winery in Napa Valley or Sonoma County, the expansive scenery of Yosemite National Park is a must.

Dine around Los Angeles and see the Hollywood sign from the Griffith Observatory. Stay in a cool hotel in West Hollywood with a rooftop pool. Hit the beaches of SoCal around Laguna Beach. Marvel at the endless sunsets.

Head inland to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park. Bookend with a stop in sin city, Las Vegas. While Las Vegas is famous for its 24-hour casinos, there is so much more to this crazy town. You can take a day trip to the Grand Canyon (go by helicopter if you can!).

Dive deeper into the Wild West and Native American culture in the romantic desert landscapes of Nevada, Utah, Arizona & New Mexico. Go stargazing. Explore Zion National Park or White Sands National Park. Stay in a romantic desert hotel.

Hop across the Pacific Ocean to beautiful Hawaii. You can go island hopping on Oahu, Maui, Kauai & Big Island. With verdant rainforest, surfing beaches and proud Hawaiian people and Polynesian culture, this is one of the USA’s number one honeymoon destinations and one of our favourite destinations for an island hopping honeymoon.

We also love the iconic honeymoon road trip, historic Route 66 — pure nostalgia from Chicago to Los Angeles. Stop at famous landmarks like the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas and Route 66 State Park in Missouri.

Explore the rhythm & blues of the Deep South from New Orleans to Memphis to Nashville. Learn about the fight for racial justice and immerse yourself in the roots of popular music. Pop across to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Whether it’s discovering creole and cajun cuisine in New Orleans’ French Quarter, visiting Graceland in Memphis or taking a tour through the historic streets of Savannah & Charleston, this is one of the best areas for history buffs and foodies.

Or maybe theme parks are your thing? With thrilling rides to be found at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando, Florida is a must.

Orlando is so much fun and you can hire a car afterwards and explore the Latin vibes of Miami and drive down the Florida Keys for white sandy beaches.

Stay in towns like Key West and Key Largo for a relaxing time. Get a little more off the beaten track on the Emerald Coast’s stunning beaches.

You can also get off the beaten track in the wilds of the Northern States from Montana and Wyoming to the Dakotas. Discover the diverse scenery and wildlife in Yellowstone National Park & Grand Teton National Park.

Or explore Alaska’s incredible fjords on a road trip or a cruise. You could also add on a trip to Canada as many Alaska cruises start from Vancouver. The American northeast is also a fantastic area for a honeymoon with a difference.

Explore the states of New England – visit quaint towns, eat lobster, and go whale watching.

Visit cities like Washington, D. C.Boston and Chicago and, of course, New York City. Whether it’s shopping, museums, food or nightlife, New York is one of the most fun city honeymoon destinations in the world.

Is the USA good for a honeymoon? Absolutely It’s one of the most diverse honeymoon destinations on the planet. Ideal for a road trip honeymoon, a city honeymoon, a theme park honeymoon, a beach honeymoon or an adventure honeymoon.

Truly, the hardest part of planning a honeymoon in the USA is choosing your own American dream!

where to tag on

The USA is so big you could easily spend your whole honeymoon in any of it’s corners.

However for couples who want to explore more, there are many options for a multi destinations honeymoon.

Los Angeles and San Francisco are great jump-off points to visit French Polynesia. Think a city stopover or California road trip with a luxury resort in Bora Bora.

Florida is also one of the best destinations to take a Caribbean cruise on the biggest ocean liners. There are hundreds of options to choose from.

You can also fly down to Central American gems like Costa Rica. With so much to do and some really unique honeymoon hotels and lodges.

Combine any major city in the USA with Mexico. A luxury resort on the Rivera Maya or Cabo makes the perfect city and beach honeymoon combination.

How about a Caribbean island like the Dominican RepublicJamaicaBarbados or Saint Lucia.

Want more epic scenery and cool cities? Then add on Canada.

Best Time To Visit

Because of the varying climates across the country, the USA is a year-round destination depending on what you want to see and do.

Some parts, such as the northern states, experience extremely cold temperatures during the winter months from November to February (ideal for a snowy winter honeymoon!).

Hurricanes can affect the coastal southern states, including Florida — the season is from May to early November with the riskiest months being late August, September and October.

Overall, the best time to visit the USA for a honeymoon is from April to May, before the peak summer months.

how long to stay

We recommend at least 10-14 nights to explore at least one region / state on a honeymoon in the USA.

However, the ideal duration of a honeymoon in the USA can vary depending on personal preferences and budget.

Give yourselves some time to recover from jet lag if necessary and have time for multiple destinations, activities and relaxing.
