Honeymoon in France

Honeymoon in France | The Honeymoon Guide

Why Go

The most visited country in the world and it’s easy to see why – a honeymoon in France is pure perfection.

Most couples will start their honeymoon in France, in a capital city that needs no introduction, beautiful Paris – the most romantic city in the world.

It’s home to charming bistros and fascinating museums. Get that selfie with the Eiffel Tower (at Place du Trocadéro) or splash out on a Michelin-star lunch at Le Jules Verne.

Eat cheese, croissants, macarons, escargots – not necessarily in that order! France is the ultimate foodie honeymoon destination.

Take a Seine river cruise. Try to get up close to the Mona Lisa at the Musée du Louvre, but to walk or stroll is to truly experience Paris – we recommend Jardin du Luxembourg and Jardin des Tuileries. Visit Palais Garnier. Shop at Le Bon Marché.

The steps to the Sacré-Cœur are also worth the climb. Decide which neighbourhood or arrondissement is your favourite, Marais, the Latin Quarter, Montmartre or Saint-Germain?

A day trip to the 800-hectare UNESCO World Heritage Site, the breathtaking Château de Versailles, is an absolute must. Learn about Marie Antoinette and see how the French monarchy lived.

Love a theme park? You can even visit Disneyland Paris.

Beyond Paris, plenty awaits on your honeymoon in France. Hire a car or make use of France’s extensive high-speed train network. Perfect for making your honeymoon sustainable.

Explore the beaches and pretty medieval towns of Brittany and Normandy. History buffs will love this region and the Mont Saint Michel Abbey is unmissable.

Visit the vineyards of Bordeaux and Burgundy and the chateaux of Loire Valley to sample all of Frances’s culinary delights. Spend your days doing wine tasting and cheese tastings.

France’s southern coastline, and particularly Côte d’Azur also known as the French Riviera, is spectacular and one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the world. Glamourous towns and seaside cities await.

Take a stroll on the waterfront promenade in Nice. People watch in chic Saint-Tropez and Cannes. Lie by the beach in Antibes. Explore charming towns like the hilltop Èze and colourful Villefranche-sur-Mer. Tick the micro-state of Monaco off your list.

Take a bike ride from Marseille to Calanques National Park. The romantic lavender fields and quaint villages of Luberon Valley in Provence are a must-visit. Design your own fragrance at a perfume factory at the home of scent in Grasse, a perfect way to remember your honeymoon in France.

Stay in a bubble dome – glamping French-style. Admire the architecture of Avignon and Arles. Live your Mediterranean dream on beaches like Pampelonne and Calanque d’En-Vau.

Thinking of travelling in winter? Find the world’s top ski destinations at Courchevel and the valleys of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.

Is France really that good for a honeymoon? Absolutely – a honeymoon in France has everything you need for pure romance!

You can take the train from Paris or other large French cities to pretty much anywhere on mainland Europe.

Tag on an Italy itinerary for another of Europe’s iconic honeymoon destinations.

Journey south to Spain and explore its great cities. Take a short flight to the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza.

There are also many flights to Morocco in North Africa for an elegant and unique honeymoon.
