About

Ibiza conjures up images of sun-soaked beaches and pulsating nightlife. But there’s more to this island than just its party reputation.

Once a haven for artists, hippies, and bohemians in the 1960s, Ibiza has evolved into a cosmopolitan melting pot. In the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Valencia on mainland Spain, the island is part of the Balearic Islands.

Its history is a fascinating tapestry of Phoenician traders, Roman conquerors, and Moorish influence, all leaving their indelible marks on the island’s culture and architecture.

Fast forward to today, and you’ll find an Ibiza that’s a harmonious blend of the old and the new. Whitewashed villages coexist with modern beach clubs, ancient olive groves with high-end boutiques.

Best time to visit Ibiza

The best time to visit Ibiza for honeymoon is from May to October.

In late April and into May, the island shakes off its winter slumber, and this is a lovely time to visit without the crowds.

Most of the clubs won’t kick off their summer season until June and finish early in October, and the crowds coincide with the party season.

Summer is when Ibiza comes alive. The beaches are vibrant; the clubs are in full swing, and the energy is electric. If you are night owls, this is your season.

April is a tranquil time, ideal for couples who want the freedom to explore without the crowds. The clubs may be quieter, but the romance volume is turned all the way up.

In the middle of October, as the summer crowds disperse and the closing parties are finished, Ibiza transitions into a more laid-back vibe.

Winter offers a different Ibiza experience. Think cosy evenings, scenic drives, and the chance to see the island in its most authentic state. However, many hotels, shops and restaurants are closed for the season.

Where to stay on an Ibiza honeymoon

Choosing where to stay in Ibiza is like picking the perfect wine—it all depends on your taste and what you’re pairing it with. Whether you’re into nightlife or serene sunsets, you’ll find the perfect Ibiza honeymoon locale.

Ibiza Town on the east coast is the heartbeat of the Island. Here, you’ll find a mix of luxe hotels, trendy boutiques, and mouth watering eateries.

By day, wander through the cobblestone streets of Dalt Vila, the UNESCO World Heritage walled old town. By night, experience the island’s famed nightlife, with iconic clubs like Pacha just a stone’s throw away.

Talamanca Beach neighbours the town and is one of our top Ibiza honeymoon locales.

Sant Antoni de Portmany aka San Antonio Bay is sunset central on the west coast. This is where the package holiday masses come and is the cheapest place to stay on the island with plenty of beachfront resorts.

The west end strip is full of cheap bars, but you’ll also find legendary spots like Cafe Del Mar and Cafe Mambo.

Playa d’en Bossa is a lovely beach resort area south of Ibiza Town ideally located for easy access to Ibiza Town with clubs like Hi and Ushuaia. Figueretes extends from Playa d’en Bossa to Ibiza Town. Either area is a great option if you’re on a budget and want easy access to the rest of the island.

Santa Eulalia, Cala Llonga and Es Caná are also lovely options about a 30-minute drive from Ibiza town on the east coast for a more resort-style beach stay with plenty of lovely Ibiza honeymoon hotel options.

Around the west coast, Cala Tarida and Cala Vadella are quiet and close to nature with stunning sunsets, about 25 minutes from both San Antonio and Ibiza Town.

Portinatx is the most northerly beach area and our top Ibiza honeymoon pick for couples who don’t want to be near the crowds or nightlife for the whole time. Nearby Port de Sant Miquel is also worth considering. The north of Ibiza is more off the beaten track.

You’ll also find villa accommodation and agriturismo hotels and restaurants in the island’s interior, ideal for couples who want to be close to nature, seeking a laid-back vibe.

Dance the night away

Whether you’re seasoned clubbers or just looking to dip your toes into the island’s legendary party scene, Ibiza has a club to extend the wedding party.

Pacha is the club that’s practically synonymous with the island. With its cherry logo, Pacha is glam with a quintessential Ibiza vibe.

If outdoor revelry is more your style, Ushuaïa is the place to be. In Playa d’en Bossa, this open-air club is famous for its epic pool parties and commercial DJ lineups.

Amnesia, in the middle of the island, has a massive dance floor and diverse line-ups.. Whether you’re into techno, trance, or house, Amnesia will probably have a line up to suit you.

Near the airport, DC-10 is the go-to spot for a more underground vibe. With its minimalist decor, this club offers an authentic experience that’s a far cry from the glitz and glamour of other venues.

For the eco-conscious lovebirds, Ibiza offers a growing number of farm-to-table restaurants. These spots focus on organic, locally sourced ingredients, often served in idyllic settings like olive groves or rustic farmhouses. Casa Jondal is an absolute must.

Craving Japanese, Italian or Mexican? No problem. Ibiza’s cosmopolitan vibe extends to its dining scene, offering a world of flavours to explore.

And let’s not forget the cocktails. From the classic Ibiza sunset cocktail to innovative mixology at rooftop bars like Up at The Standard, you won’t be short of romantic places to have a drink.

Ibiza Honeymoon Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ibiza good for a honeymoon?

Absolutely! Ibiza is a sensational choice for a honeymoon.
Ibiza isn’t just a one-note wonder. There truly is something magical and magentic about the White Island.

From the UNESCO-listed old town to serene hidden beach coves to the world-class nightclubs and an enviable food scene, and luxury hotels, Ibiza is one of the best destinations in Europe for honeymoon.

How long should we stay in Ibiza for our honeymoon?

If you’re pressed for time but still want a taste of Ibiza’s magic, a shorter minimoon-style stay of 3-4 nights can be surprisingly fulfilling. You’ll have enough time to explore the highlights. Maybe a beach or two, dine at some fabulous restaurants, and perhaps even catch a night of clubbing.

However, 7 nights is ideal. You can divide your time between relaxation and adventure, perhaps dedicating a few days to exploring the lesser visited parts of the island.

Ultimately, the duration of an Ibiza honeymoon will depend on several factors, including your available time, budget, and the type of experience you’re looking to have.

Is Ibiza expensive?

It is one of Europe’s most popular destinations, so an Ibiza honeymoon is not the cheapest.

However, while Ibiza has a reputation for being a playground for the rich and famous, the truth is, the island offers a range of options to suit various budgets.

From five-star resorts to VIP club experiences and fine dining establishments, the island can be a lavish affair, but a budget-friendly Ibiza honeymoon is possible!

Opt for a cheaper resort or apartment and enjoy the island’s natural beauty, which is, of course, free.

The cost can also vary significantly depending on when you visit. High season, which runs from late June to early September, is when prices peak.

For more affordable rates, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons in May, early June, late September, or October.

How to get to Ibiza?

Getting to Ibiza is straightforward, but the options can vary depending on where you’re coming from.

Ibiza Airport (airport code: IBZ), serves both domestic and international flights.

During the high season, many airlines like Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling operate direct flights from major European cities.

If you’re coming from the U.S., you’ll likely have a layover in a European hub like London, Madrid, or Barcelona.

In winter, you can fly from major European capitals like London and Paris, too.

If you’re already in Spain, you might take a ferry to Ibiza. The most common departure points are Barcelona, Denia, and Valencia with multiple options during high season.

We use FerryHopper for booking ferries and we would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment in the high season.

Upon arrival, you’ll find various transportation options to get you to your accommodation and around the island.

Taxis are readily available, but during high season, book in advance so you’re not waiting around.

You’re usually anything from 10 to 60 minutes from your hotel. You can also book car hire.

Many couples opt for car rental for the freedom to explore at their own pace.

Public buses are also available and are a cost-effective way to travel. Spanish driving culture may be different to that at home, so be cautious.

How to get around Ibiza?

Ibiza is easy to get around.

Renting a car is like having a VIP pass to Ibiza’s best-kept secrets. It’s the go-to option for couples on an Ibiza honeymoon who want to explore the hidden beaches and quaint markets.

A car gives you the freedom to set your own itinerary.

If you’d rather leave the driving to someone else, taxis are a convenient choice. They’re especially handy for airport transfers or quick trips to restaurants and clubs.

For the budget-savvy couple, public buses connect most of the island’s key areas. While you’ll be working around a set schedule, buses are a reliable and economical way to get from one hotspot to another.

Or, why not rent bikes for a day? It’s a fabulous way to cover moderate distances while enjoying the island’s natural beauty.

What to pack for an Ibiza honeymoon?

One of the biggest decisions when planning a honeymoon is what to wear in Ibiza!

We recommend packing plenty of swimwear and sundresses, sunglasses, light shirts, shorts and t-shirts for men.

Ibiza is romantic and stylish, so pack chic and glam outfits, dresses and jumpsuits. It’s also where you can get away with your most fun outfits. To be honest, anything goes in Ibiza!

What Ibiza souvenirs can you buy?

Ibiza is a haven for shoppers with everything from tourist shops to high end design.

Ibiza Town is the place to shop but you’ll also find markets like Las Dalias Hippy Market and Punta Arabí.

Ibiza is known for its boho fashion vibes, from white dresses to Iberian leather boots and sandals

Pick up some fans, with neon clubbing vibes and traditional Spanish fans widely available, they’re an easy souvenir to bring home from your Ibiza honeymoon.

From pottery to woven goods, Ibiza’s markets are a treasure trove of artisanal crafts. Add a touch of Ibiza’s unique aesthetic to your home.

Pick up a bottle of Hierbas Ibicencas, the island’s traditional herbal liqueur.

Olive oil and sea salt are two local food products make for delicious and practical souvenirs,

Ibiza has a vibrant jewellery-making scene, offering everything from affordable trinkets to high-end pieces.

Where can we tag on to Ibiza for a multi-destination honeymoon?

As you can see, you can easily spend your whole honeymoon in Ibiza!

You could stay in Spain and tag on neighbouring Mallorca or explore the cities of Spain. Book a tapas tour in Barcelona, learn to make paella in Valencia and explore the museums of Madrid.

However, if you’d like to tick another destination off your list, during summer, you can also fly to many other destinations in Europe.

Think Ibiza combined with London or Paris. Fancy a honeymoon in Italy?

You can combine a stay on the Amalfi Coast or Greece’s heavenly islands. Tick off your bucket list with a stay in Santorini or a few days in Mykonos in one of the stunning hotels.

Truly, the possibilities are endless!
