Where to go on honeymoon? When to go on honeymoon? When is the best time to visit? What is the weather like? Will there be rain? Is it hot? Is it hurricane season? Is it monsoon season? So many important questions. Before you pick your dream honeymoon destination on your ideal date, it’s important to know what the climate conditions might be in the particular month you intend to travel.
Why? You might think that the best time to travel is during the summer months. However, there are many climate and weather patterns around the world, so climate conditions should be an important factor when choosing your honeymoon destination. Ideally, you don’t want to deal with an extreme weather event such as a hurricane or blizzard on your honeymoon!
When you are considering warm tropical destinations, the most important aspect to note is the rainfall. Many destinations don’t have four seasons but often two, ‘wet’ and ‘dry’. The wet season or rainy season can sometimes mean adverse weather. For example, in the Caribbean and southern USA, it’s riskier for hurricanes from August to October. Many countries in Asia are in the middle of the monsoon during the summer months, from June to October.
For destinations with four seasons, it’s also important to be mindful of the climate. If you live in the northern hemisphere and are thinking of travelling to the southern hemisphere for your honeymoon during the summer, it’s winter in the southern hemisphere. The same goes if you live in the southern hemisphere and want to go to travel to the northern hemisphere, the seasons are the opposite. For example, you may not want to travel to Europe in December or New Zealand in July (unless you’re looking for a wintery honeymoon, of course).
However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t travel during the low season to your dream destination. You may want to avail of the cheaper prices and fewer crowds. Shoulder months, those months between summer and winter or wet season and dry season can be fantastic value. The crowds start to abate and you’ve got the sweet spot between good value and good weather.
