While it is still cooler in the southern cities of Melbourne & Adelaide, it’s warming up to comfortable temperatures in Sydney and Perth and its dry season in Queensland and the Northern Territory (to visit the incredible Uluru).

Drive down the iconic east coast from Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef to the Whitsunday Islands to the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane to the Gold Coast to Byron Bay.

Phew, Australia is a phenomenal September honeymoon destination!

It’s also a perfect time to visit one of the earth’s great paradises in the South Pacific, the heavenly archipelago of French Polynesia – home to the iconic island of Bora Bora.

New Zealand is still good for a winter sports honeymoon earlier in the month, but as the month goes along, spring arrives with longer nights and fresh spring temperatures, particularly on the North Island.

If you’re looking for a cheaper time to travel without bigger crowds or visiting with full-on winter conditions, then September is the month for you.

It’s a beautiful time to honeymoon in sunny South Africa, one of the most diverse countries on earth. Spring is arriving, and temperatures are pleasant.

Take a romantic road trip down the Garden Route, start in stunning Cape Town, visit the penguins at Boulders Beach and explore Table Mountain. Explore the culinary highlights of this wonderful city.

A honeymoon in September in South Africa is perfect for visiting the beautiful wine regions around Franschhoek and to spot humpback whales in Hermanus as it’s whale watching season.

Top it off with a Big 5 safari in the Eastern Cape or hop to Kruger National Park. Either would be a beautiful option for a honeymoon in September.

September is one of the Maldives’ wettest months, so although some of our all-time favourite honeymoon hotels are there, it is a little riskier to travel in September.

Half the month experiences some rainy days. This can range from short, heavy bursts to overcast days. Many couples still plan a Maldives honeymoon in rainy season and see hardly any rain but the risk is there.

While it’s still cooler in southern Argentina, September is an enjoyable time to visit Buenos Aires, the wine regions of Mendoza and the canyon country around Salta, so you can still plan an incredible Argentina honeymoon itinerary.

Think about combining Brazil and Argentina, crossing the brother at the stunning Iguazu Falls. You could also cross from Salta in Argentina into Bolivia and on to Peru for an epic September honeymoon adventure.

The USA is ideal for a road trip and city hop. In fact, there are 50 states to choose from!

California is a perennial classic – start in San Francisco and head down the Pacific Coast Highway to Los Angeles or San Diego before swinging eastwards to Las Vegas via Joshua Tree National Park.

Hop over to Las Vegas (although it’s still hot hot hot) for the exceptionally fun hotels and an endless list of things to do.

Consider Route 66 or the Wild West states like Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado, – explore Native American culture and go stargazing.

As it’s coming into the riskiest time for hurricanes in the southern states of the USA around Florida, the Gulf of Mexico and some Caribbean islands.

The weather is unpredictable in the region, however, many couples travel to Florida and the Caribbean on a September honeymoon without issue.

However, it’s hard to predict so we’d recommend saving those for winter to early summer if you want the best weather.

Extreme weather is rare, although Costa Rica gets quite heavy rains at this time in the popular areas of the country. You may get glorious sunny weather or you may get thunderstorms and showers!

You also get great deals in honeymoon hotels in these destinations, whether it’s a luxury all inclusive in Mexico or an intimate boutique jungle lodge in Costa Rica.

You’ll also find great deals in stunning destinations like Jamaica, the Bahamas, Saint Lucia, Antigua, Cuba and on Caribbean cruises, too.

Some islands, for example, Barbados & Aruba in the southern Caribbean and Mexico’s stunning Riviera Maya, rarely experience hurricanes as they’re considered outside of the ‘hurricane belt’.

These are the destinations to choose for the best chance of good weather. However, they could get residual rain and thunderstorms.

The Caribbean is great for all-inclusive honeymoon packages however, they just come with a ‘beware of the weather‘ caveat at this time of year!

We think it’s the September is the best time to have a minimoon or honeymoon in Europe!

Dine around Copenhagen and the other Baltic capitals, like Stockholm and Helsinki. Cruise the Norwegian Fjords.

Take a romantic honeymoon road trip in Iceland‘s otherworldly landscapes.

In Ireland, explore the Wild Atlantic Way and finish with a pint of Guinness in Dublin.

Tour the ancient castles of England & Wales. Visit the Scottish Highlands. Ideal for couples who want to do something different from a tropical beach for their honeymoon in September!

Morocco is easily accessible from Europe and cools down in September.

Marrakech has so many romantic riads to choose from. It’s a foodie and shopper’s delight with stunning architecture to boot.

Morocco has rugged beaches and high mountains for hiking, ideal for intrepid explorers wondering where to honeymoon in September.

The monsoon rains ease towards the end of the month in Nepal and Bhutan. Sri Lanka also experiences a partial dry season.

September is quite a wet month for Southeast Asia, with one big exception. It’s a great time for Indonesia and, in particular, for Bali, one of the world’s top honeymoon destinations in September!

One of the best things about a honeymoon in Bali is that it is very affordable and extremely fun – there is an endless array of things to do! It should be on top of your list for a honeymoon in September.

Explore the beaches, nightlife, temples and jungle of this favourite. Stay in a luxury hotel or villa with your own pool and treat yourselves to a floating breakfast.

Explore other islands in Indonesia and consider adding on Singapore for a fun city stopover.

Autumn arrives in the north of China, which is a lovely time to visit Beijing and the Great Wall, although you can still expect some rain around south China highlights like Yangshuo.

Autumn is a wonderful time to visit one of our favourite destinations for culture lovers, Japan. In fact, it’s the second-busiest time of year after spring as the colours change.

Start in Tokyo and zip around on the Shinkansen bullet trains to Kyoto, Osaka, Kanazawa and Hiroshima.

So if you don’t mind the heat and you’re thinking about where to honeymoon in September, it’s a great time to visit Jordan to see Petra and go stargazing in Wadi Rum.

Later in the month, Oman starts to come into its own. With heavenly honeymoon hotels, a romantic mountain interior and lovely beaches waiting to be explored.

It’s one of our favourite underrated honeymoon destinations for September (but we stress later in the month is better)!

Istanbul (with Turkish Airlines) and Dubai (with Emirates) are huge hubs, so if the opportunity arises and you are flying through these cities, we highly recommend a stopover.

You could add on a trip to Cappadocia from Istanbul for a truly insta worthy honeymoon highlight on a hot-air balloon.

A honeymoon in Dubai should be on your list. There are so many places to stay and things to do in this desert metropolis.

Like Oman, it is very hot earlier in the month but things start to cool later in September.
