French Polynesia & Bora Bora Weather Overview

French Polynesia and Bora Bora doesn’t have four seasons, but has two which can be defined as the ‘dry season’ and ‘rainy season‘.

The rainy season is from November to April and the Bora Bora dry season is from May to October.

The tropical climate ensures consistently warm temperatures, averaging 28°C (83 °F) year round.

During the wet season, temperatures can make the mercury hit over 30°C (88°F), while in the dry season, temperatures can drop to around 24°C (75°F).

There are varying climatic conditions throughout the year, hence why it’s important to consider Bora Bora weather by month and the best time to visit Bora Bora for honeymoon.

The islands stretch across 2000 kms (like London to Athens or New York to Dallas!) including the Tropic of Capricorn and yet the variation in the weather across the country is minimal.

It’s worth noting that French Polynesia is a tropical country, so rain showers can happen at any time! It’s what makes these islands so lush and beautiful after all. Being in the tropics the weather can be unpredictable.

Catastrophic weather events are rare although cyclones can occur. The South Pacific cyclone season is from November to April and if one hits it can bring torrential rain, powerful winds, and rough seas.

However, couples who travel during the rainy season more often than not experience great weather but the risk, albeit small, is there. Climate change is a major worry for South Pacific nations.

So what is the best month for clear skies, less humidity, sunny weather and little rain?
