Seychelles doesn’t have four seasons, but has two which can be defined as ‘dry season’ and ‘rainy season’.

Generally the Seychelles rainy season is from November to March and the Seychelles dry season is April to October.

The tropical climate ensures warm temperatures year round. Yet, there are varying climatic conditions throughout the year, hence why it’s important to consider Seychelles weather by month and the best time to visit Seychelles for honeymoon.

It’s worth noting that Seychelles is a tropical country, so rain showers can happen at any time. It’s what makes Seychelles islands lush and green after all!

The climatic conditions don’t vary too much between the main tourist islands – Mahe, Praslin & La Digue and surrounding islands.

Unfortunately, it’s one of the wettest months of the year with a lot of humidity as the northwest trade winds / monsoon passes through the islands, bringing plenty of rain.

Temperatures average around 28 °C / 80 °F. While it doesn’t rain all day every day, you will get heavy tropical showers and thunderstorms at least half the days of the month.

Seychelles is rarely affected by the cyclones or hurricanes that hit other parts of the Indian Ocean and extreme weather is rare.

You could be lucky and get some consecutive days of sunshine, but rain showers are the norm in January.

Many couples, particularly those trying to escape the European winter, still visit Seychelles over the Christmas / New Year holiday period, despite the rainy conditions at this time.

So, although January is not considered the best time to visit Seychelles for honeymoon, prices are at a peak in early January, but from the second week of the month they can drop by up to two-thirds!

Although it is the start of the dry season, prices are not at the peak of high summer, so it’s the sweet spot between good weather and good prices, making May the best time to visit Seychelles on honeymoon.

The southeast trade winds bring a cooler breeze, with temperatures averaging 26.8°C / 80.2°F.

These winds allow for good sailing and windsurfing conditions. It’s also a lovely time to go hiking in stunning rainforests of Morne Seychellois National Park or the UNESCO World Heritage Site Vallée de Mai, Praslin.

You can also lie by your stunning hotel pool or on a paradise beach!

The southeast trade winds can bring some seaweed to the beaches in June. While this is a natural phenomenon, it’s mainly confined to the southern beaches of Praslin and southwest Mahé, there are many more beaches to discover on Praslin and beyond.

June is the best time to visit Seychelles for honeymoon. Prices increase later in the month as the peak travel time arrives, so you’ll usually get better value if you can travel earlier in the month. In August, the beaches of Praslin and southwest Mahe’s southern areas may see some seaweed because of the southeast trade winds, which is a natural phenomenon.

Praslin offers numerous additional beaches to explore both on the island itself and along outlying islets and islands.

August is the best time to visit Seychelles for honeymoon. However, as it’s peak time for summer travel, we’d recommend booking early to get the best deals and availability.

Similar conditions to July and August prevail, as the southeast trade winds determine the conditions. With a breeze ideal for sailing, kitesurfing, surfing, hiking and sunbathing!

It’s also a great time of year to snorkel and dive. Temperatures average 26.5°C / 79.7°F.

The seaweed of the preceding months can still be around in September on some southern beaches, but there are plenty of beaches free of seaweed, too.

September is the best time to visit Seychelles for honeymoon as you’ll avoid the peak summer travel downsides such as high prices and more crowds!

In fact, it’s one of our favourite months. It’s a time of transition between the southeast trade winds and more rainy north west trade winds, which arrive in December.

You may get the odd shower, but the seas are calm with ideal conditions for snorkelling and diving. Temperatures average 26.9°C / 80.4°F.

September is the best time to visit Seychelles for honeymoon as you’ll avoid the peak summer travel downsides such as high prices and more crowds!

Although it is the beginning of the rainy season, it won’t reach its peak until December and January.

You could consider November the best time to visit Seychelles for honeymoon if you prefer to travel during a shoulder month when prices are reduced.

Ideally stick with the first half of the month. Temperatures average 27°C / 80.6°F and it’s still a good time for snorkeling and diving.
