Moyenne Island is a small island off the coast of Mahé within Sainte Anne Marine National Park with a fascinating history.

During a visit to Seychelles in the early 1960s, an English newspaper editor Brendan Grimshaw bought the island for £8000 and embarked on a mission to restore it after decades of neglect.

As Brendan and a local young man named René Antoine LaFortune cleared the overgrown land, they discovered two graves, fuelling Grimshaw’s belief in buried pirate treasure.

Despite many offers to sell the island for millions, Grimshaw resisted.
