St. Lucia basks in a tropical climate, maintaining a pleasantly warm average temperature of 26-30°C (79-86°F) throughout the year.

But what will the weather really be like?

High humidity is the norm, particularly from June to November, which coincides with the rainy season aka hurricane season.

Rain showers and the occasional thunderstorm refresh the lush scenery during these months, with September and October witnessing the heaviest rainfall.

December to May offers a slightly cooler and drier experience, making it an ideal time for exploring the island’s natural beauty.

Weather shifts can be swift and surprising — sunshine can quickly give way to rain showers, ensuring the island remains lush and green.

Don’t forget to check your luggage allowance before you start packing so you can avoid over packing!

Things to leave behind:

Warm Clothes – Leave heavy clothing off your St. Lucia resort packing list. The climate is tropical and warm all year round so you won’t need thick clothing. Even when it rains, it’s warm!

Heeled shoes – Formal shoes and high heels are not needed so leave these off your St. Lucia packing list. The islands’ relaxed vibe and sometimes uneven, hilly terrain make this kind of footwear impractical.

Gadgets – While your camera, e-reader, smartphone (or even your drone) might be essential items on your St. Lucia packing list, avoid overloading your luggage with too many electronic devices.

Embrace the chance to disconnect and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of St. Lucia.

Too many makeup products – The humid Caribbean climate can make heavy makeup uncomfortable and wearing it short-lived, so just add your most paired back products to your St. Lucia packing list!

Snorkelling or scuba diving gear – Unless you’re particularly attached to your own gear, dive and snorkelling excursion operators will provide all the necessary equipment. Although, for hygiene reasons you may want to pack your own!

Expensive jewellery – Although you want to wear your engagement and wedding rings – make sure they’re not loose!

Leave other expensive jewellery at home to avoid any mishaps when you’re out on adventures in St. Lucia.

Single-use plastics – in an effort to reduce your carbon footprint, make your honeymoon sustainable – consider reducing the use of single-use plastics in your packing. Opt for reusable items where possible.

Although, we recommend having at least 6 months’ validity left on your passport (i.e. your passport expiry date must be 6 months from your return date).

Most documents are electronic now, so make sure you have your boarding pass or e-ticket on your phone along with your transport, hotel and tour confirmations.

Travel vaccinations are recommended for St. Lucia. We encourage you to visit the Centers for Disease Control for up-to-date travel vaccination recommendations or speak to a Tropical Medicine Specialist.

The currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (which is pegged to the US dollar). Most tourist businesses accept cards.

However, we would recommend having some US dollars which are widely accepted. You will get your change in Eastern Caribbean Dollar. 

Tipping is at your discretion although is more expected due to the popularity of St. Lucia with US tourists. We would recommend 10% unless there is a service charge.

You can usually take out cash at ATMs in airports and around the main tourist centres. If you bring cash to exchange locally, make sure they’re fresh / undamaged notes.

More than one pair of your favourite sunglasses is an essential addition to your St. Lucia packing list!

Add some light summer dresses or shorts and tops such as vests / tank tops and t-shirts and cute dresses / playsuits to your St. Lucia packing list for evenings.

For men, some long linen style trousers are ideal for night time dining.

Skip the high heels and opt for some cute sandals instead. Flip flops/thongs or sliders are an essential add on to your St. Lucia packing list.

Include at least one sun hat and a chic beach bag (we love this tropical monogrammed one – get your married initials for a super cute personal touch)

You may want to cover up with a rash guard during the day if you’re taking part in water activities. Don’t forget to pick up some water shoes / aqua shoes for snorkelling adventures.

Pack some comfy clothes for the plane — athleisure wear, sneakers, scarves, socks. 

If you are gym lovers, you’ll most likely need to add your gear to your St. Lucia packing list. Although, we’d recommend a barefoot jog along the beach, an early morning hike or sunrise yoga instead of hitting the gym!

We hope you’re planning to leave your resort to explore St. Lucia! So for hiking rainforest treks, add some more practical footwear to your St. Lucia packing list.

Sneakers or tennis shoes might be sufficient depending on your plans! A practical day bag is essential to fit in all your essentials.

A light rain jacket can come in handy (even the dry season can see the odd shower).

Resorts provide beach towels, so if your St. Lucia packing list is already overflowing, then there is no need to bring one.

You may love your own hair dryer, but your hotel will have one, so there may not be a need to bring your own (plus the humidity can make hair styling futile!).

If you do want to bring your own, remember that you might need a power converter if you’re coming from a destination with low voltage like the USA to a higher voltage destination.

A waterproof phone cover will be one of the best things to add to your St. Lucia packing list, too. You can take photos while having fun in the pool and the sea.

Thinking about bringing a drone or living your best influencer life? You can use a drone in St. Lucia but you must register with the relevant authorities.

We confess, we are over packers! Yet we love to be organised, so packing cubes are super handy if you want to compartmentalise (if you’re going on a multi-destination honeymoon, they’re fantastic as they save you from having to unpack everything).

A dry bag can be handy to keep any essentials away from the water on boat trips.

This is probably obvious, but besides some practical items below, we’d recommend packing a few outfits and at least one piece of swimwear in your carry-on / cabin suitcase (just in case your checked bags go missing!). 

Tap water is chlorinated and considered safe to drink in St. Lucia although we know many travellers opt for bottled water.

The number of plastic bottles can add up. So instead, consider a water filtration and purification travel bottle like Grayl for guilt free hydration!
