There are around 20 beaches on the island, many of them are black or golden sands.

We know many couples come to the Caribbean for white sand beaches! Anse des Pitons, aka Sugar Beach aka Jalousie Beach, nestled under the Pitons, is a powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters.

It’s perfect for snorkelling or just lounging. The white sand here is actually imported but you’d never tell!

All beaches in St. Lucia are public so although Anse de Pitons is the beach of luxury resort Sugar Beach, you can access the public part of it.

Anse Chastanet Beach is known for its excellent snorkelling. The coral reef just offshore teems with colourful fish along this palm tree lined, dark sand haven. Don’t miss Anse Mamin Beach nearby which is less crowded.

If you’re staying in the north of the island, Smugglers Cove in Cap Estate is worth checking out, too. There are 200 steps down and back up though!

Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay is a long stretch of golden sand. You can enjoy water sports or relax at one of the beachfront bars, this is a more bustling vibe and one of the busiest beaches on the island.

Vigie Beach is close to the capital and can be quite busy.
