The best time to visit Koh Samui for a honeymoon is from January to September when there is less rain. Some intermittent rain showers happen even during the dry season though!

The worst months are October to early December during the heaviest rains, so we’d recommend avoiding these months.

It’s worth noting that the Gulf of Thailand has a different climate pattern to the rest of Thailand (where the dry season is from November to April).

Koh Samui hotels and resorts are not usually all-inclusive and the hotel prices mainly include bed & breakfast.

If you want to be close to the action then stay around Chaweng Beach on the east coast of the island.

Nearby, the areas of Choengmon Beach and Bophut Beach to the north and Lamai Beach in the south-eastern coast of Koh Samui are a little more laid back but with plenty to do in terms of dining and activities.

If you’d prefer to be a bit more secluded on your honeymoon in Koh Samui, opt for a luxury resort on the west coast which has some incredible uninterrupted sunset views.

Crystal Bay aka Silver Beach, is a gorgeous bay between Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach dotted with Seychelles-esque granite boulders.

The most popular beaches can be strewn with rubbish sadly, which can be disappointing, particularly if there has been heavy rains.

• Weather Vulnerability: While you would be unlucky to encounter extreme weather, Koh Samui has an intense monsoon season which can occasionally lead to regular heavy rains and thunder storms.
  
  
• Distance: Koh Samui is further away and if you only have a short time for your honeymoon, it may not be worth travelling so far away. You don’t want to have to deal with jet lag for your whole honeymoon!
