A honeymoon in the Maldives is one of our ultimate recommendations.

This island nation comprising 26 atolls (groups of tiny islands surrounded by lagoons), in the Arabian Sea, will take your breath away with the ultimate romantic tropical scenery.

Most couples will bypass the capital, flying into the tiny airport of Malé and going straight to their hotel. Each hotel resort occupies its own little paradisal island, with powdery white sand and cyan waters. From hyper-luxury hotels with your own private pool villa and a personal butler to all-rounder resorts with all-sports pitches and even an occasional pool party, there is an island in paradise to suit everyone.

We recommend booking at least a beach villa, but the quintessential Maldivian experience is, without a doubt, a water villa, a room on stilts over the lagoon. All-inclusive packages in the Maldives are popular with many honeymooners and mean you don’t need to worry too much about the bill at the end of your stay. Ultra-luxury resorts offer à la carte services from restaurants to experiences so you can tailor-make your perfect honeymoon vacation.

Whether you want to watch the perfect sunsets or sunrises, have a spa treatment or dinner in an underwater room, play a game of tennis or watch a movie on the beach, you’ll come away feeling like you’ve just experienced heaven.

A tropical destination that doesn’t experience winter but a ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ season, the best time to visit the Maldives for a honeymoon is from December to March when the least rainfall happens at the height of the dry season although outside of these months is usually fine too. You can expect some showers and maybe even some overcast/thundery days during the wet season from May to October. May, September & October experience the most rainfall. The Maldives rarely experience extreme weather events, but tropical storms occur.

Is the Maldives good for a honeymoon? Yes, it’s one of the top tropical honeymoon beach destinations on earth.
