Vast and varied, a honeymoon in Spain has so much to offer. Many couples will start in one of the major cities. Spain’s landlocked capital, Madrid with world-class museums and the best tapas bars or Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast, with Gaudí architecture and one of the world’s greatest party scenes or maybe the Moorish southern city of Seville with its narrow cobblestone streets and Flamenco shows.

Of course, Spain is famous for the beautiful Balearic islands which are a must. You may or may not be intrigued by the party side of Ibiza, but its bohemian heart is worth seeking if you know where to look (in the north!). Neighbouring Formentera has the most beautiful beaches in Spain and Mallorca or Menorca are dotted with beautiful coves, beach bars, fine dining and luxury boutique hotels.

Back on the mainland, the expansive coastline has too many highlights to mention but the gastronomic gem, San Sebastian or Bilbao, home of the Guggenheim in the north is worth considering as are Valencia & Malaga on the Mediterranean coast. Looking for epic hikes and Michelin star dining? Then consider the Canary Islands, Tenerife has many lovely honeymoon hotels for all budgets.

The best time to visit Spain for a honeymoon is from April to October when the weather is warm. From July to August, the weather heats up with temperatures with average temperatures around 30°C / 90°F with the heaviest crowds. During winter, it is cooler, with average temperatures in Madrid of 5°C / 40°F in December/January.
